Icehouse Canyon is one of the best trails to hike in the San Gabriel Mountains. A few times a year after a heavy winter storm, the landscape transcends into a winter wonderland. Snow capped trees dot the ridges in every direction, and all signs of civilization are gone. Despite the superlative beauty found here on these special days, the trail is usually devoid of the hordes of hikers that frequent here in warmer months.
From the top of Icehouse Saddle, there are numerous peaks to bag within a couple miles if you are feeling ambitious, though 7 miles of snow hiking is usually enough to tire us out and rejuvenate our souls.
